Pénzinfo 2009 Conference on Financial Informatics

The renewal of the institutional system in the financial sector and the restitution of new value types

Headquater of the Hungarian Culture Foundation, Budapest, 14-15 may 2009

The Information Society Foundation organised a successful conference on 14-15 May under the title Pénzinfo 2009. Microsoft Hungary and Magyar Telecom were outstanding sponsors and OGYS also supported the event where several financial, IT and cultural experts discussed the renewal of the system of financial institutions and their new ways for creating values.

The highlighted topics of the Conference will be:

  • Financial Informatics
  • Financial Systems and Networks
  • Branch Networks
  • Network science and its business applications
  • New Technologies in Financial Informatics
  • Mobile Payment
  • Bank Security
  • Culture as investment

The conference initially scheduled for November last year could not be held because of an upheaval in the financial world, this time however almost all the invited institutions were represented. The organisers thought that by May some proposals regarding a way out could be foreseen and they were not mistaken.

The conference was excellent. Some most outstanding professionals of the various themes presented their most recent experience, they were full of willingness to act, had several concepts of implementation in the areas of business renewal, financial systems, business applications of network science, technological innovation in financial IT, mobile payment, bank- and information safety, culture as an area of investment. The presentations represented a high quality and were followed by professional dialogues, new acquaintances were made, (some) business connections were formed.

The guest of honour was Mr. Michael Cwick from Brussels. In his opening lecture he spoke about the importance and the spirit of the single currency. At the section meeting about culture he discussed the need to maintain cultural versatility while using common language(s) besides applying a single currency. The presentations on tourism and the protection of cultural heritage connected well to the themes he analysed. He actively contributed to the work of the conference in the rest of the time as well, because on several occasions he connected the lectures given by Hungarian professionals with some timely positions of the European Union.

n view of the numerous professionals who were interested in this conference, however the current economic situation did not allow them to participate, ITA has decided to issue a publication which will contain the presentations (of a high standard) given at this conference.
