Sustainable local traditions
This is the aim of HÍR (Traditions – Tastes – Regions) and the Slow Food movement (vs Fast Food) joint working group that called together a round table meeting with organisations involved.
They spoke about Hungarian events in different towns and regions whose aim is not only the maintenance of traditional culinary techniques but also the culture surrounding it, e.g. Nyíregyháza-Sóstó Skanzen 17-18 September 2010. The movement already covers the most of Europe. See examples: www.qualigeo.eu. A new European movement is Slow City of which Hódmezővásárhely is the first Hungarian member. They are striving for touristic development, routes for tradition search and multicultural expansion of environmental preservation. Other issues mentioned were: biocultural meeting, launching of the Gourmet-Gasztro review, landscape presentation in the Cora chain and the „best practice” collection of the Leader program. The next meeting in May will provide information on summer events.
